THE NORDIC PIANO COMPETITION MALMÖ 2012
Dear competitors and audiences,
The Malmö Academy of Music welcomes you warmly to the 6th Nordic Piano Competition.
The aim of the Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö is to focus on the art of piano playing, the instrument and its rich repertoire, to enable young pianists to win prizes such as the Blüthner Grand, performances and grants as well as to inspire music lovers to play the piano on all levels and to enrich audiences with musical culture.
Since the beginning in 2002 the Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö has developed into a major piano competition, well-known for high artistic levels and friendly atmosphere, its international board of jury members and the well-equipped facilities at the Malmö Academy of Music. During the 10 years the Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö has proved to be a major step in the careers of many young pianists. We are proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Nordic Piano Competition.
The audience has the possibility to hear many breathtaking performances and to follow the Nordic Piano Competition from the beginning to the end is a true artistic adventure. An international board of excellent members of the Jury contributes with concerts and lectures and gives the competition a sense of festival, inspiring and ensuring the ongoing development of musical culture and communication.
The Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö is open for piano students at the Academies of Music in the Northern Countries, the Baltic Countries, in Gdansk and Rostock, Amsterdam, The Hague and Brussels. This year a special invitation will go to Japan for two students to participate 2012.
