
The symphony orchestra is the Performance Programme’s concert flagship. The orchestra works intensively under the leadership of internationally active guest conductors.
Repertoires consist of classical, romantic and contemporary music and soloists are individually selected after auditions.
The orchestra performs annually in the Malmö Concert Hall and cooperates with the Malmö Opera’s Orchestra in joint productions.
The orchestra was out on tour in March 2009 with concerts in Vilnius, Tartu and Tallinn.
In the autumn of 2010, the Malmö Academy of Music was invited to the Venice Biennale – the world´s biggest festival for contemporary music. The Malmö Academy of Music participated with one wind ensemble and one percussion ensemble.
In 2012 the symphony orchestra toured to Berlin, Germany, under the direction of Prof. Håkan Hardenberger.
