Allan Skrobe studied at Malmö Academy of Music 1993-1998 and has taught at the academy since 2000 with guitar and mandola as main instruments. As a musician, Allan has a background in rock and pop with many different projects behind him. Folk music took over as his main musical interest in 1998 when he began to immerse himself in Swedish folk music and music from the Balkans. Nowadays he is inspired by musical styles from all over the world.
During the last 25 years Allan has been a mentor at the world music camp Ethno, which exists in many countries around the world. He has also taught ensemble playing and trained musical mentors in Paris for Ethno Fonik.
Allan is currently playing in two musical projects, Midgren|Skrobe|Quartey with Sven Midgren on violin and Tina Quartey on percussion. The trio focuses on Swedish folk music and plays both old, traditional material and newly written music. In addition, he plays in the Lidija Dokuzovic Trio led by singer Lidija Dokuzovic who sings folk music from the Western Balkans. The trio also includes Jesper Nordgren on double bass.
At Malmö Academy of Music Allan teaches main instrument, ensemble and theory. He is responsible for ensemble and projects at the Folk and World Music programme but also teaches recording and production in audio and film.
