Performance Programmes in Music ⎢Bachelor's Level

Aim:

The Bachelor in Church Music programme aims to prepare students for professional careers as church musicians within the Church of Sweden or other denominations.

The programme shall develop the performance and artistic skills of the student as well as his/her ability to direct. Students are also given the skills required to work as part of the unit running the parish and meet the various demands placed by different parishes. The programme also aims to provide students with the educational and psychological insights and skills that a career as a church musician might require.

Bachelor in Church Music Programme, 180 higher education credits.

The Bachelor in Church Music Programme aims to prepare students for professional careers as church musicians within the Church of Sweden or other denominations.

The programme shall develop the performance and artistic skills of the student as well as his/her ability to direct. Students are also given the ability to work as part of the unit running the parish and meet the various demands placed by different parishes.

The programme also aims to provide students with the educational and psychological insights and skills that a career as a church musician might require.
Programme Contents

The programme of study is three years in length and is to a considerable extent equivalent to the Church Music Programme which earlier led to a degree in Organ Studies.

The Bachelor’s programme, complemented with studies determined by the Church of Sweden, gives a qualification similar to the previous degree in Organ Studies.

The programme includes solo and liturgical organ playing, vocal studies, conducting, piano, ear training in piano studies, music theory, project work, liturgical and teaching methodology. Students are offered the chance to specialise in the final year of study.

The academic year is divided into weeks of scheduled classes according to a schedule (24 weeks), project weeks and weeks of independent study, as well as examination and assignment weeks.

Entrance Tests

Central entrance tests for the whole of Sweden are arranged.
