Performance Programmes in Music ⎢Master's Level

The Master in Church Music Programme aims to train musicians with excellent artistic, teaching and professional abilities.

After completing the programme students shall have well-developed knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to partake in various forms of professional work such as soloist work, as a member of a fixed ensemble or as a musician within a parish of the Church of Sweden or other denominations.

Students shall also have developed the ability to study independently.

In addition, after completing the programme, students shall have acquired thorough entrepreneurial skills that increase his/her professional versatility in an ever-changing ecclesiastical and cultural life.

Degree of Master in Church Music
Master in Church Music Programme, 120 higher education credits.

The Church Music Master’s Programme, aims to train musicians with excellent artistic, teaching and professional abilities.

After completing the programme students shall have well-developed knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to partake in various forms of professional work including soloist work, as a member of an ensemble or as a musician within a parish of the Church of Sweden or other denominations.

Students shall have also developed the ability to study independently.

In addition, after completing the programme, students shall have acquired thorough entrepreneurial skills that increase his/her professional versatility in an ever-changing ecclesiastical and cultural life.

Programme Contents:

The programme of study offers three areas of specialisation:

• Organ and Keyboard (Download Syllabus)

• Music and choir (Download Syllabus)

• Arrangement and Composition (Download Syllabus)

The programme of study is two years in length. Students may have a number of teaching elements and projects in common with other students of church music or performance.

The academic year is divided into weeks of scheduled classes according to a schedule (24 weeks), project weeks and weeks of independent study as well as examination and assignment weeks.

Basic eligibility and a successful entrance test.

Entrance test

Central entrance tests for the whole of Sweden are arranged.
