The Malmö Academy of Music cooperates with private companies, local councils/municipalities, government organisations and various other associations and bodies.
The Academy’s concert division organises over 200 public concerts annually making it an important part of the region’s cultural life and the division is continuously working in cooperation with the City of Malmö, Dunkers Kulturhus, Mix Music and Jazz i Malmö.
The Academy also runs a school concert programme together with Music i Syd for school children and youngsters in the region.
In addition, the Academy is involved in the project Orkester Norden which is organised by the nationwide Rikskonserters regi. Each year, the best symphony orchestra musicians from music academies in Scandinavia are invited to take part in a concert tour.
The Academy also cooperates with the various orchestras in the region in other orchestra and composition projects, including the Symphony Orchestras of Malmö (MSO) and Helsingborg (HSO) as well as the string ensemble Musica Vitae in Växjö.
The Academy arranges a Scandinavian Piano Competition every second year in cooperation with Blüthner Piano Factory and the board of the bank Sparbanken Skåne. The competition, which is open to all students of piano in the Scandinavian region, includes master classes, workshops and lectures.
