Malmö Academy of Music gives about 200 concerts every academic year. Come meet tomorrow's musicians today!

The concerts at Malmö Academy of Music range from traditional symphonic music to jazz, rock, and world music. Regardless of genre, as a visitor, you will take part in a memorable experience with high musical quality. In addition, our concerts are free.

Malmö Academy of Music’s Symphony Orchestra

Malmö Academy of Music's Symphony Orchestra consists of more than a hundred students who work in intensive projects under the direction of nationally and internationally established guest conductors. The repertoire consists of Classical, Romantic, and contemporary music and when the orchestra does not play at the Malmö Academy of Music, it tours regularly.

Malmö Academy of Music's Women's Choir

Malmö Academy of Music's Women's Choir (Musikhögskolans Damkör) was formed in 2011 by Lena Ekman Frisk, senior lecturer in choir singing and choir management. The choir consists of about thirty singers from various backgrounds – some are young students, some are experienced choir singers with a background in one of the region's many choirs. The repertoire focuses on classical music for women's choir a cappella, but mixes everything from folk music to hymns, century-old music to contemporary pieces. The choir participates in concerts given by Malmö Academy of Music, but they also carry out their own projects and collaborations.

The choir rehearses every Wednesday during term and accepts new students at the start of the autumn term after auditions. To apply for Malmö Academy's Women's Choir, register at antagning.se between March 15 – April 17.


Malmö Academy of Music’s Big Band

This band consists of 18 musicians who play together in jazz’s largest ensemble form – the big band. The repertoire varies from classic big band songs to newly composed contemporary music. The band is led by Claus Sörensen, teacher at Malmö Academy of Music in saxophone and arrangement/composition.

The big band rehearses every other Tuesday during term and admits new students at the start of the autumn term after placement tests and based on eligibility requirements. To apply for Malmö Academy of Music's Big Band, register at antagning.se during the period 15 March - 17 April.
