UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN CHURCH MUSIC · 120 CREDITS · 2 YEARS

The two year Cantor programme at the Malmö Academy of Music is a university education that leads to a University degree in church music (120 credits).

The education is aimed at those who want to work as musicians in congregations within the Church of Sweden or other congregations. Here you will be trained as a musician with a high artistic, pedagogical and professional ability. The focus is on developing your instrumental skills and artistic ability. The training also gives you the pedagogical and psychological insights and skills that working in a church may require. The studies include organ playing, singing, conducting, piano, movement theory, liturgy and teaching methodology.

To receive the Office of the Cantor, you must also have completed the Church of Sweden's pastoral theological education for church musicians.
