Application period: 1 December 2025 – 15 January 2026
- Repertoire list, sheet music for the pianist, and a written CV/resumé should be sent by standard post so that we have it no later than 2 February 2026.
- Confirm your eligibility. Deadline for supporting documentation to confirm your eligibility is 26 January 2026.
- Invitation to admission test is sent to the email address you provided when you applied for the programme.
- Admission test at Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Opera will take place 14-15 February 2026.
- Admission decision (first selection): 15 April 2026 on My pages at www.universityadmissions.se
- Deadline for accepting your place: 28 April 2026 on My pages at www.universityadmissions.se
- Admission decision (second selection): 7 May 2026 on My pages at www.universityadmissions.se
Repertoire list and CV
- Prepare a repertoire list that includes:
- Five well-studied opera arias from at least three different periods and in at least three different languages. At least one of the arias must be in Swedish. At least one aria must have been composed after 1950.
- One song or aria from a musical or operetta.
- One extended accompagnato recitative.

- Write a CV/biography in which you describe your previous studies as well as any other relevant information.
Send the repertoire list, CV, and sheet music for the pianist by standard post so that we receive them no later than 2 February 2026:

Admission test
The admission test consists of three rounds.
- Saturday, 14 February 2026 at the Malmö Academy of Music – Round 1
- Sunday, 15 February 2026 at Malmö Opera – Round 2 and 3
Pianists will be provided by the Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Opera.
- Please note: The repertoire and lyrics must be performed by heart at all rounds.
Round 1
At Malmö Academy of Music, Rosenbergsalen
At the audition, you will perform:
- A 10-minute program of your choice from your submitted repertoire list. The repertoire must include at least two pieces or excerpts representing different styles, characters, and languages. You should also give a brief spoken presentation of the repertoire you perform.
- The jury may also ask you to perform additional pieces from your repertoire list.
After Round 1, the jury will announce which candidates have advanced to Round 2.
Round 2
Malmö Opera, Main Stage:
- After you have passed Round 1, the jury will inform you which aria from your repertoire list you are to perform in this round (Round 2).
- On site, the jury will also select an additional aria from your repertoire list for you to perform.
After Round 2, the jury will announce which candidates have advanced to Round 3.
Round 3
Malmö Opera, room TBA:
- You will take part in a group movement test together with other applicants.
- You will perform a dramatic text/monologue of your choice.
- The jury may ask you to perform a freely chosen extended recitative in any language, as well as to present an additional piece from your repertoire combined with a dramatic interpretation. You should also be prepared for a short interview.

Eligibility and Selection
To be eligible for the program, you must:
- Meet the general entry requirements for higher education and be able to present a Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent at the start of your studies.
- Meet the specific entry requirement by achieving approved results in all qualifying tests (entrance tests).
Selection is based on the results of the entrance examinations.
Assessment criteria for the main instruments:
The assessment is based on two main areas: technical proficiency and artistic expression.
To receive a passing result, applicants must demonstrate a sufficient level in both areas. Applicants are then ranked according to the level they have achieved.
