No admission for the academic year 25/26. The next admission period opens for the academic year 26/27.

Key dates for your application

  1. Apply for the programme at universityadmissions.se
    Application period: 1 December 2023 – 15 January 2024
     
  2. Repertoire list, sheet music for the pianist, and a written CV/resumé should be sent by standard post so that we have it no later than 16th February 2024.
     
  3. Confirm your eligibility. Deadline for supporting documentation to confirm your eligibility is 25 January 2024.
     
  4. Invitation to admission test is sent to the email address you provided when you applied for the programme.
     
  5. Admission test at Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Opera will take place 2 – 3 March 2024.
     
  6. Admission decision (first selection): 12 April 2024 on My pages at www.universityadmissions.se
     
  7. Deadline for accepting your place: 25 April 2024 on My pages at www.universityadmissions.se
     
  8. Admission decision (second selection): 8 May 2024 on My pages at www.universityadmissions.se

Repertoire list and CV

  • Prepare a repertoire list containing:
     
    • Five well-rehearsed opera arias from different periods and language areas, including one in German, one in French, and one in Italian. One of the arias must have been composed after 1950, and one must include a recitative.
       
    • A song from any musical.
       
    • A freely chosen longer recitative in any language.
       
  • Write a CV/resumé detailing your previous studies and other relevant information.

Send the repertoire list, CV, and sheet music for the pianist by standard post so that we receive them no later than 16 February 2024:

Admission test

The admission test consists of three rounds. 

  • Saturday 2nd March 2024 at the Academy of Music in Malmö – Round 1 and 2
  • Sunday 3rd March 2024 at Malmö Opera – Round 3

Note! The repertoire and lyrics must be performed by heart.

Round 1

  • You perform an opera aria by your own choice.
  • The jury asks you to perform one or more arias from from your repertoire list.

If you pass round 1, you will move on to round 2 and 3. 

Round 2

  • You perform a group movement exercise together with the other applicants.
  • You perform a longer recitative in any language. You choose which one.
  • You perform an compulsory dramatic text that will be sent to you beforehand.

Round 3

  • The jury asks you to perform a selection of arias from your repertoire list.
  • You perform an opera aria of yourn own choice.
  • The jury may ask you to perform something from your repertoire together with dramatic interpretation.

Reminder

In order to meet the entry requirements for a Master’s Performance Programme you have to be able to demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent at the beginning of the term.
