PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME IN MUSIC, MASTER'S LEVEL

Key dates for your application

  1. Sign up for the programme at universityadmissions.se
    Registration period: 1 December 2023 – 15 January 2024
     
  2. Last completion day to prove your eligibility is 25 January 2024.
     
  3. Upload your samples of work (Round I) no later than 22 January 2024. Read more about content and instructions for uploading further down on this page.
     
  4. Applicants who have uploaded complete samples of work in time are called to Round II. The invitation is sent to the email address you provided when you registered.
     
  5. Round II is conducted on site at Malmö Academy of Music, week 10, 2024. Date and time are specified in the notice.
     
  6. Admission decision 1: 11 April 2024 on My pages at universityadmissions.se
     
  7. Deadline for accepting your place through My pages at universityadmissions.se 25 April 2024.
     
  8. Admission decision 2: 7 May 2024 on My pages at  universityadmissions.se

Admission test

When applying for this programme, you must upload samples of work via the link below. Please read the instructions on how to do this further down on this page before you start.

In order to apply for the Performance programme Interpretation Diploma you must have completed basic music education in addition to having a broad and extensive repertoire.

SAMPLES OF WORK
Round I
Upload the following work samples:

  • CV including previous music studies and a description of current musical activities (format: PDF)
     
  • Complete repertoire list (format: PDF)
     
  • Admission test repertoire list: You must prepare a list where you state a 40-minute programme that you wish to perform, and which clearly demonstrates your musical and artistic level. The repertoire should reflect different stylistic epochs and we would like one of the works to represent contemporary music composed after 1950.

The samples of work (Round I) must be uploaded to Malmö Academy of Music via the link below no later than 22 January 2024.

Applicants who have uploaded a complete application in time are invited to Round II. The invitation is sent to the email address you provided when you registered.

AUDITION
Round II
The audition is conducted on site at the Academy of Music in Malmö week 10.

At the audition you perform:

  • a maximum of 15 minutes and a minimum of 12 minutes of music from your list of audition repertoire submitted in Round I. The performed repertoire must contain at least two works/pieces/movements that represent different styles and characters, in addition the jury would like the applicant to perform one composition composed after 1950.
     
  • The jury may ask you to perform additional repertoire from your list of audition repertoire.

Applicants for the Interpretation Diploma are asked to request accompanist for the audition. If you need recommendations for pianists, please contact admissions [at] mhm [dot] lu [dot] se

Instructions for uploading samples of work

  1. Make sure you have signed up for the programme at universityadmissions.se
     
  2. Save the documents you want to submit. Save them in PDF format. Name each file with a title, your initials and date of birth – use the first two letters of your first and last name and the year/month/day format for your date of birth. Separate the data with underscores.

    The files are named according to the following example:
    CV_LaJo_990230 (in the example, the applicant is called Lars Jonsson with date of birth 990230).
     

  3. Create a new folder on your computer. Name the folder with Your name_your instrument_date of birth (year/month/day).

    Example: LarsJonsson_Violin_990230
     
  4. Put all your files in the folder and save it on your computer. 
     
  5. Compress your folder into a ZIP file (do not use RAR files, we cannot open these). The folder must not exceed 5 GB.
     
  6. Open the link for uploading samples of work. You will find the link at the bottom of this page.
     
  7. Download or drag the entire folder from your computer into the upload window. Use the same email address as when you made your registration at universityadmissions.se

  8. When the upload is complete, you will receive a confirmation directly in the browser. Do not close the browser until the upload is complete.

Please note: It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the work samples are complete according to the audition information, that they are submitted in the correct format and are playable. Never send your samples of work to the admissions email. They will end up in the wrong place and your application will not be considered complete.

Reminder

In order to meet the entry requirements for a Master’s programme you have to be able to demonstrate a Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent at the beginning of the term.
