Music Drama – Répétiteur

Malmö Opera Academy

MASTER'S PROGRAMME IN MUSIC · 120 CREDITS · 2 YEARS

The Master’s Programme in Music Drama – Répétiteur at Malmö Academy of Music is offered in close collaboration with Malmö Opera. This two-year programme is aimed at pianists with a high level of artistry, preparing them for a professional career as a repetiteur in opera and musical theatre.

The programme offers a unique opportunity to develop both musically and dramatically in a real opera environment, alongside musicians, singers, and conductors at Malmö Opera. This makes the programme entirely unique in Sweden and places it at the highest artistic level.

During the programme, you will receive instruction in various specialised subjects, including:

•    Piano
•    Recitative and score playing
•    Conducting and ensemble leadership
•    Voice
•    Harpsichord
•    Music history
•    Languages
•    Industry knowledge

You will also have the opportunity to work with guest coaches, singers, répétiteurs, and conductors directly connected to the current repertoire at Malmö Opera. The practical, independent work takes place through an internship at Malmö Opera, where you will gain valuable experience from the professional stage.

At the beginning of the programme, an individual study plan is created in collaboration between you, Malmö Academy of Music, and Malmö Opera. Upon completion, you will have the knowledge and skills required to work as a répétiteur in music-drama productions.
