MASTER'S PROGRAMME IN MUSIC · 120 CREDITS · 2 YEARS
Performance programmes in Jazz and Folk and World Music (subtitles available in English under settings)

The Master's programme in Jazz/Improvisation, is meant for students who possess excellent artistic and professional qualities and want to work as a future jazz musician.

On completion of the programme, the student shall have adequate knowledge and skills to be able to comfortably work within the various functions and engagements of a professional musician - either as a soloist, a member of an established ensemble or in independent projects.

The student shall also have developed the ability to study in a largely self-directed or independent manner. Furthermore, on completion of the programme, the student shall have acquired basic entrepreneurial skills that increase his/her professional versatility in an ever-changing cultural life.

The programme consists of compulsory and optional courses. The academic year is divided into weeks of scheduled classes, project weeks and weeks for independent studies as well as examination and assignment weeks.

Teaching takes place either individually or in groups. Instrumental instruction consists of classes in the primary instrument of study, group lectures, seminars and individual interpretation classes.

Once the programme is successfully completed, students are awarded a degree of Master in Music.

General requirements for university studies in Sweden as well as a Bachelor in Music 180 credits or equivalent and successful entrance tests to the Master’s Programme in Music. Exceptions can be made from the basic eligibility requirement of proficiency in Swedish for international students.
