PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
Ligeti was one of an avant-garde increasingly interested in the organ (Bengt Hambræus and Mauricio Kagel were som others). Some of the newly invented electronic music´s effects could also be created on the organ which therefore became a bridge between electronic and acoustic music. Strictly speaking this ought to have been obvious as the organ is a venerable machine in terms of sound synthesis. The electronic music studio was however to develop much faster in many different areas magnifying the differences and not the similarities that had become apparent in relation to the organ. This result in Ligeti´s analysis becoming interesting anew, now interpreted as an awakening interest in the organ as a physical entity, as a "body. When meeting the digital world of sound synthesis the old organ´s mechanistical technology becomes quite physical...
