Gustav Melander

Gustav Melander är en svensk trumpetare baserad i Malmö och Bergen och är för närvarande stämledare trumpet i Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester. Han har en gedigen och omfattande erfarenhet som orkestermusiker och framträder regelbundet med flera av Europas mest framstående orkestrar som gästande solotrumpetare.

Innan sin nuvarande tjänst var Gustav under tio år solotrumpetare i Malmö Symfoniorkester. Han är även en engagerad pedagog och har undervisat vid Musikhögskolan i Malmö sedan 2015. Därtill har han varit gästprofessor vid Royal College of Music i London och håller återkommande masterclasses vid europeiska musikhögskolor som Royal Northern College of Music i Manchester, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Conservatoire CRR de Paris och Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium i Köpenhamn.

Gustav är flitigt anlitad som gästande solotrumpetare av orkestrar som London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks och HR-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, liksom av flera ledande nordiska orkestrar såsom Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester, Kungliga Filharmonikerna i Stockholm och Oslo-Filharmonien.

Gustav Melander is a Swedish trumpet player based in Malmö and Bergen, currently serving as Principal Trumpet of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. He has extensive experience as an orchestral musician and regularly performs with many of Europe’s leading orchestras as guest principal trumpet.

Before assuming his current position, Gustav spent ten years as Principal Trumpet of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra. He is also an active educator and has taught at the Malmö Academy of Music since 2015. In addition, he has served as Visiting Professor at the Royal College of Music in London and frequently gives masterclasses at major European conservatoires, including the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, the Conservatoire CRR de Paris, and the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen.

Gustav is frequently engaged as guest principal trumpet with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, as well as leading Scandinavian orchestras including the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic.
