PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME IN MUSIC, MASTER'S LEVEL

Key dates for your application

  1. Apply for the programme at universityadmissions.se
    Application period: 1 December 2025 – 15 January 2026.
     
  2. Round 1. Upload your work samples by January 21, 2026. Read more about content and instructions for uploading further down on this page.
     
  3. Confirm your eligibility. Deadline for supporting documentation to confirm your eligibility is 26 January 2026.
     
  4. Round 2 takes place on-site at Malmö Academy of Music during week 10, 2026. Exact date and time are stated in the invitation, which will be sent to the email address you provided when you applied for the programme.
     
  5. Admission decision (first selection): 15 April 2026 on My pages at universityadmissions.se
     
  6. Deadline for accepting your place: 28 April 2026 on My pages at universityadmissions.se
     
  7. Admission decision (second selection): 7 May 2026 on My pages at universityadmissions.se

Admission test

The admission test consists of two rounds. Round 1 is conducted remotely by you uploading work samples. You are then invited to do Round 2 which takes place on site at Malmö Academy of Music during week 10.

Please note: In order to apply for the Performance programme Interpretation Diploma you must have completed basic music education in addition to having a broad and extensive repertoire.


Round 1 (uploaded work samples)

Upload the following work samples:

  • CV including previous music studies and a description of current musical activities (PDF)
     
  • Complete repertoire list (PDF)
     
  • Admission test repertoire list: You must prepare a list where you state a 40-minute programme that you wish to perform, and which clearly demonstrates your musical and artistic level. The repertoire should reflect different stylistic epochs and we would like one of the works to represent contemporary music composed after 1950.
     
  • Sheet music in PDF format for piano accompanist. The Academy of Music provides pianists for the auditions.

The material must be uploaded via the link below no later than 21 January 2026.


Round 2 (at Malmö Academy of Music)

You will perform:

  • Between 12 and 15 minutes of music from the repertoire you submitted in Round 1. The repertoire you perform must contain at least two works/pieces/movements that represent different styles and character. In addition, the jury would like you to perform one composition composed after 1950.
     
  • The jury may ask you to perform additional repertoire from your list.

Please read all information carefully.

  1. Read the information carefully to ensure you send the correct files in the correct format.
  2. Make sure you have applied for the programme at antagning.se or universityadmissions.se

Prepare your files

  • Save the documents you want to submit as PDFs.
     
  • Name each file with a title, your initials (first name + surname, two letters each), and your date of birth (YY/MM/DD). Separate the data with underscores (_).
     
    • Example: CV_JeSm_990230 (for Jessica Smith, born 1999-02-30)

Create a ZIP file

  • Create a folder on your computer and name it according to the format: Full name_Instrument_Date of birth (YY/MM/DD)
     
    • Example: JessicaSmith_violin_990230
       
  • Place all files in the folder and compress it into a ZIP file. Do not use RAR, as we cannot open that format.
     
  • The folder must not exceed 5 GB.

Upload your ZIP file

  • Open the upload link (found further down this page).
     
  • Select or drag the ZIP file from your computer.
     
  • Click Upload.

Once the upload is complete, you will receive a confirmation in your browser. Do not close the browser until the upload is finished.

Eligibility and Selection

To be eligible for the program, you must:

  • Meet the general entry requirements for higher education and be able to present a Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent at the start of your studies.
  • Meet the specific entry requirement by achieving approved results in all qualifying tests (entrance tests).

Selection is based on the results of the entrance examinations.

Assessment criteria for the main instruments:
The assessment is based on two main areas: technical proficiency and artistic expression.
To receive a passing result, applicants must demonstrate a sufficient level in both areas. Applicants are then ranked according to the level they have achieved.
