Exchange studies | Music Teacher Training Programme

The Music Teacher Training programme at Malmö Academy of Music is designed to develop both your pedagogical and artistic skills. Our ambition is that you will have as many classes as possible together with our Swedish students.

You choose among the courses below, but remember to discuss your decision with a coordinator at your home university since it is important that you can transfer your ETCS at the end of your exchange. You are welcome to do an exchange with us during the autumn semester or during a full academic year. Please note, we offer no admission for spring semester.

When applying you need to state which genre you want to study. This should be the same genre you study at your home university.

We offer the following genres / specialisations:

  • Jazz
  • Classical
  • Pop and Rock
  • Singer-songwriter
  • Vocal - Genre Diversity
  • Folk and World music (no admission 24/25)

Applications are done online in our application system SoleMove. Nominated students will receive an email containing information and instructions on how to complete the online application prior to the application period opens.

Your application needs to contain:

  • Official transcript of Records (in English)
  • Study plan
  • CV
  • Statement of Purpose (in English)
  • Passport Copy
  • Audition videos. Record yourself performing three pieces that represent the genre you wish to study at the Malmö Academy of Music. Your selection should demonstrate both musical breadth and depth. Once recorded, upload a document containing YouTube links to your videos as part of your SoleMove application.

English language proficiency

All courses will be in English. It is therefore important that you have sufficient level of English to be able to successfully study the courses open to exchange students. While we do not generally require you to submit a formal English language proficiency test, your level of English should be equivalent to IELTS 6.5/TOEFL 90.

You will be informed of whether you have been accepted at Malmö Academy of Music by 25 May the latest. When you get your Letter of acceptance you need to create a Learning agreement in the system that your own university use, talk to your International Coordinator if you are unsure. In your Learning agreement you state the courses you have chosen. See dropdown menus (Courses - autumn/spring semester) below.

As an exchange students you are expected to study full-time, 30 ECTS/semester, of which you must study at least 26 ECTS at Malmö Academy of Music. You may include external courses at other faculties in your application, but you are neither prioritised nor guaranteed admission outside Malmö Academy of Music.

Make sure that your chosen courses match your study plan at home and are approved by your home university.

At the end of your exchange, you are responsible for obtaining a verifiable transcript of records from Lund University and sending it to your home university, following these instructions:

Transcript of records from Ladok

If you require a signature on documents such as a Certificate of Attendance or a Learning Agreement, please contact your coordinator at Lund University.

Special Area Study courses

Nominated exchange students can apply for so-called 'Special Area Study' (SAS) courses in a wide range of subjects across eight different faculties at Lund University. These courses are a great opportunity for you to learn more about subjects outside your major.
