Hanna Blomberg | Violinist and Composer
Hanna Blomberg is a violinist and composer with roots in both classical music and folk music.
She has studied two Bachelor’s degrees at Malmö Academy of Music, first Violin in 2017 and then Classical Composition under the guidance of Rolf Martinsson in 2022.
During her violin studies, she met Petter Ferneman and Kristian Wolski, with whom she founded the folk music trio Trio Wolski in 2016. Since then, the group has released three critically acclaimed albums, performed extensively across Sweden and Europe, and was one of the first ensembles to be featured in Musik i Syd’s Ensemble in Residence programme (2020–2022). Hanna is also a member of the folk music group Stringlip, where she continues to explore the intersection of tradition and innovation.
As a composer, Hanna often draws inspiration from storytelling and folk traditions, blending tonal material with extended playing techniques. Her works have been performed by prominent ensembles and orchestras, including the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Musica Vitae, Ensemble Mare Balticum, Orkester Moderna Musica, the Monbijou Quartet, and the Bellevue String Quartet.
Alongside her artistic pursuits, Hanna works part-time as a Suzuki violin teacher at Lund's School of Culture (Kulturskola).
During my years at Malmö Academy of Music, I found both myself and what truly drives me. After completing my degree in classical violin, I realised that a Master’s degree wasn’t the right next step for me – I longed to create my own music and to understand music as a whole. When I began studying classical composition with Rolf Martinsson, everything fell into place. It felt like coming home. I learned an incredible amount and had a fantastic time throughout the programme.
