Iris Bergcrantz | Singer
Iris Bergcrantz is a jazz and folk singer, composer and arranger.
She is the bandleader of her quartet Iris Bergcrantz Kvartett, which has released four critically acclaimed albums. The group has performed on prominent stages and events such as Allsång på Skansen, TV4's Nyhetsmorgon, A-Trane in Berlin and the Rochester International Jazz Festival in
New York State, and has toured extensively throughout Europe. The quartet has also been praised in Dagens Nyheter. Iris has been nominated for the Manifestgalan 2023 for best jazz album and for a Danish Music Award 2020 for best vocal jazz album.
Iris is also a member of the group Åkervinda, which performs Swedish folk music with a modern expression. The group has released three critically acclaimed albums, one of which was nominated for a Grammy in 2019. In 2024, Åkervinda was awarded a Danish Music Award (Danish Grammis). The group has been internationally acclaimed and has performed on major stages, including Allsång på Skansen.
During her studies at Malmö Academy of Music, Iris had the freedom to shape her education according to her own needs, while the school provided challenges that helped her grow as a musician and composer. In her second year, she had the opportunity to arrange for a string quartet—an experience that sparked a deep interest and one she has continued to explore beyond her studies.
Iris’s music draws inspiration from experimental pop, Swedish folk music, and classical impressionism, seamlessly woven into an innovative jazz expression.
