Principal bassoon with Malmö Symphony Orchestra
Annika Fredriksson has held the post as principal bassoon with Malmö Symphony Orchestra since 1998. Previously, she has worked with both Malmö Opera and Gävle Symphony Orchestra.
She received her Bachelor's degree in bassoon from The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and then studied orchestral music at The Academy of Music in Mannheim. In addition, she holds a postgraduate diploma in bassoon from The Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm.
Annika has made recurrent appearances as principal bassoon with The Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and she has performed as a soloist on numerous occasions, in works dedicated to her by contemporary Swedish composers Olof Lindgren, Erik Peters and Daniel Fjellström as well as in works from the classical bassoon repertory.
Since 2009, she holds the position of university lecturer of bassoon and chamber music at Malmö Academy of Music and teaches recurrent master classes in Sweden, Poland, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Spain. Annika is also passionate about strengthening young musicians’ self-esteem and is a certified coach (ACC) via International Coach Federation.
