Tania Naranjo is an established singer, concert pianist and composer, who has created a unique musical style and sound world where her melodic and rhythmic power has an obvious place. Tania grew up in Chile, where she discovered her passion for classical piano and Chilean folk music early on. She has worked for more than 25 years as a concert pianist, composer and singer in Sweden, where she has appeared on the country's biggest stages in addition to working as ensemble leader and as a soloist with symphony orchestras in Europe and South America. She is often heard in cross-border collaborations such as in the True Music Project which she runs together with Reuben Sallmander.
Naranjo has composed for film, theatre and symphony orchestra. She has also released several albums, and participated in major theater productions, most recently in "Lärda Kvinnor" at the Gothenburg City Theatre. Her new solo album "Rosor" with her own music to poems by Karin Boye, Edith Södergran, Gabriela Mistral and Frida Kahlo has had a great impact in the Swedish and Chilean media. In April 2024, she will make her debut as a children's opera composer with Nalle Havsöga at Operaverkstan/Malmö Opera.
During Tania's career, she has given masterclasses and workshops to classical piano and World music students as well as tango nuevo, in Sweden and South America, both at elementary and university level. In addition to having been Artist in Residence at Malmö Academy of Music, she has been a guest lecturer at Chile's University for the Arts, and sat on the jury at, among others, the Nordic Piano Competition. At Academy of Music in Malmö she teaches piano as a main and secondary instrument.
