Zuzanna Hoppe, viola | Masterexamen
Gems for Viola
Zuzanna Hoppe is a violist from Poland, who studies at Malmö Academy of Music under Professor Henrik Frendin. She has completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Poznań Academy of Music (Poland) under Professor Lech Bałaban. During her Master’s graduation recital, she is going to present three musical gems for viola in distinct and varied styles and temperaments. The concert will start with York Bowen’s Phantasy, imbued with post-romantic rich harmonies and luscious tone. Then a step back will be taken to the baroque times with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Chaconne from Partita no. 2, - a staple of the violin repertoire, this time performed on the viola, giving the piece an even greater sense of profundity and depth. After the break, listeners will be treated to the Dmitri Shostakovich’s Sonata for Viola and Piano, full of humorous and grotesque moments, intertwined with a sense of reverie and despair.
The piano part will be performed by Max Lörstad.
